Happy Labor Day! Today's painting is of "Redbones on the River" in Kingston, TN. My family and I visited this new restaurant which is a converted colonial home along the Clinch River & Watts Bar Lake and we had an outstanding meal! Its got a great atmosphere, two outdoor dining areas and a spectacular view of the water.

Today's painting is of the entrance Gate to Sequoyah Hills located at the intersection of Kingston Pike and Cherokee Boulevard. Nestled just west of downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee, along the banks of the Tennessee River to the south and the historic Kingston Pike to the north, lies one of Knoxville's oldest premiere residential sections.

Today's painting is of Neyland Stadium at night through the trees along the parking lot on the west side. This night the crews at Neyland were running checks on all the lights including the new jumbo-tron, which was washing the sky with an array of brilliant colors. I would be testing the lights too if I were having 108,000 guest over for a party on Saturday, wouldn't you?

Today's painting is of the JFG Coffee Building with the Fire Street loft building along Jackson Avenue. JFG coffee was roasted and delivered out of this building from 1926 until just a few years ago. The building is now owned by Dewhirst Properties and is being redesigned into modern apartments. The Fire Street Loft building also a Dewhirst Property, underwent a design change several years ago and now is home to many downtown residents. Once a dark avenue full of old warehouses and factories is now full of life again.

Today's painting is of Long's Drug Store on Kingston Pike early in the morning. Started in 1956, Longs's is a Knoxville landmark. It's an old-fashioned drug store with diner and soda fountain and very popular for families to gather on a Saturday morning.

Today's paintings is of Neyland Stadium, home of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. The stadium has undergone many changes over the years and as the new season approaches the stadium has a new designed Jumbo-tron. Gone is the power T and the words Vols at the top...the new one features 3 large black & white photos of players and the words "Neyland Stadium" across the top and an all digital screen, spectator side. Its a new season, a new coach and a new look...GO VOLS!!!

Capitol Theatre
The Capitol was at one time the largest venue of three movie houses in downtown Maryville with seating for 1,000 people and now serves as a special events facility in a dinner theater setting. It has been beautifully restored and is also home to a coffee shop and art gallery. Downtown Maryville hosts an Art Walk every last Friday of the month.

Bissell Park. The bell is an expression of the hope for everlasting peace, friendship, and understanding among all people of the world.
