Today's painting is a "plein air" piece painted from the end of the dock at Duncan's Boat Dock looking across the marina towards some private boat slips. It was a beautiful morning to be out on the dock painting as the sun was rising. As noted before, some painter friends and I have decided to meeting once a week and paint on location, trying different locations around the area.  This piece is an unframed 5 x 7 oil on a "clayboard art panel."

Today's painting is of the bend in the Tennessee River from a private garden overlook, facing the southwest. Some painters friends and I have decided to meet once a week and paint on location, trying a different location around the area.  We are grateful to our host for allowing us into their beautiful gardens to paint.

Today's paintings is of the Grand Union Building in downtown Knoxville just around the corner from Market Square, across the street from the St. Oliver Hotel on Union Ave. The building, as I suspect, is largely office space with some residental units, however at night, with its globe lights on all around its awning, it commands your attention!

Today's painting is inspired by all the drives I've made westbound into the sun as it levels out into my field of vision. Cars and on-coming objects lose their shape and are warped by the sun's intense glare and heat.
