Today's painting is of the world famous IHOP! Easily recognizable with its large A-frame building and bright blue roof and of course serving a fine breakfast since 1958. My painting is based on the restaurant and all its glory at night and a little about those of us who just have to have their Rooty-tooty-fresh-n-fruity for supper! This is the IHOP located on Kingston Pike in the Bearden area of Knoxville. Enjoy!

About "Postcards"

"Postcards from Knoxville" is a painting blog of small works that feature Knoxville and surrounding areas by artist Mike C. Berry. Original paintings (approx: 5 x 7 inches) will be posted fequently on this blog and made available through a link to eBay.

This idea to create the blog came from my friend, Mark Heinz, a local architect, who encouraged me to exhibit and sell my paintings of Knoxville on a blog. Upon researching this type of blog I found that I would be remiss if I did not thank artist Duane Keiser who started the concept of the daily painting blog in 2004 and to Stephen Magsig for inspiring me with his idea of the daily "postcard" painting.

I began to feature "Knoxville" in my work in early 2001 and the public's response to a 2005 exhibition showcasing my cityscapes encouraged me to continue featuring our great city as a subject of my art. The resurgence of life into downtown Knoxville has also created wonderful subjects to paint as well as an opportunity to showcase this city that I'm proud to call my hometown.
